Our Program’s Goals
  • To nurture a positive attitude toward learning: Materials are chosen based on their appeal for the child and those which the child feels the need to master. The child works at his/her own pace with as much repetition as necessary. This approach creates a series of successful experiences, in turn developing a positive attitude toward learning.
  • To develop self-confidence: Activities are planned in a hierarchical manner and in a developmental sequence. Success in working with activities builds the confidence essential to sound emotional development and autonomous functioning.
  • To foster natural curiosity: A variety of stimulating materials encourages the child to discover qualities, dimensions, and relationships. This process transfers the natural desire to know into a habit of curiosity.
  • To develop initiative and persistence: Appealing materials and learning activities attract the child to work on his/her own. This activity results in a pattern of independent initiative. Children are encouraged to complete the task begun without time restrictions – the child’s persistence is rewarded with success.
  • To foster inner security and a sense of order: Every item in the classroom has a place and everything must be in its place. This routine satisfies the child’s need for order and develops a “sense of order” as well as the inner security essential for sound emotional growth.
  • To develop sensory-motor skills: Intriguing tasks involving large and small muscles help the child develop size, shape, color, texture, scent, and sound discrimination skills, sharpening his senses.
  • To encourage creative thinking: Opportunities are provided for self-expression through movement, form, color, sound, and word in the work areas of practical life, sensorial activities, music, art, language, mathematics, science and geography.
